Award season is upon us and everyone asks the female actors “who they’re wearing” and its all very exciting, but what is better than a well dressed man? A few of my faves from the Golden Globes held Sunday night were; Neil Patrick Harris in a classic tux and bow tie. John Krasinski changed it up by wearing a dark blue tux suit. Tom Ford, well, chic and gorgeous as always. Tracy Morgan (a comedian can pull it off) in a white tuxedo jacket, was refreshing and looked fantastic. All were well-groomed, polished and the epitome of class. They looked the part, Hollywood stars.
I won’t name those who didn’t do as well. Lets just say, unless you’re growing a full beard for an upcoming role, SHAVE! A little 5 o’clock shadow is okay, but full on Grizzly Adams is just putrid. The greasy look doesn’t work either, along with a cowboy hat and shiny shirt. Note: Arm candy does not make you look better, quite the contrary, it enhances how horrid you look.
A tuxedo is a man’s best ammunition to look stellar. You do not have to wear the proverbial bow tie, just make sure your long tie matches the tux color perfectly…no obtrusive color or you will throw the entire image off. It may have been fine for prom when your tie matched your dates dress, but this is grown men time. Do wear a tie, open collar is just too…..”Im too cool to wear a tie” and so overdone, so 5 yrs ago and so foolish looking…not at a formal function, MTV…thats a different story.
I was happy to see, my fave, the pocket square. I told you to start wearing it and some of you listened. You don’t need to save it for formal wear, put it in your suit jacket pocket and you’re set. I am ahead of the trend. Stick with me, you can’t go wrong.
