Valentine’s Day, a day that makes many men shudder. There are many gift ideas we could give you like; chocolate, as in chocolate diamonds….or the rest of the original gambit …. candy, flowers, perfume, a picture in a frame of the 2 of you. Do all and you’re golden, one is fine too, but if you honestly aren’t feeling a gift or your wallet is a bit thin…..here is the finest idea for you. Write a handwritten (not typed) letter.
Men: You can buy a card and tuck a note in or use a beautiful piece of stationary or the menu from the first place you had dinner…you know, something sentimental. Writing a letter is personal. No matter how long you’ve been with this person, you have some good feelings and memories or you wouldn’t be hanging around during Valentine’s day! Do not email this letter. Do not text message this letter. Write it down and either mail it to her through the US postal service or hand deliver. It doesn’t cost much more than your time and thats all someone really wants, is to know you’ve taken the time to really think about what they mean to you. Don’t be shy, when it comes from the heart, it can’t be wrong. P.S. If you need a bit of help, go to http://StValentinesDay.org
Ladies: If you know your man abhors Valentine’s Day, be nice, don’t pressure him. If he’s not feeling it, he will be miserable trying to live up to your expectations. Let him know, its okay. If you’re trying to impress your friends by the gifts he gives you..wake up, you’re in this for the wrong reasons. Gift giving for men is fairly easy. Men just want to be appreciated. You can show it through a store-bought gift (maybe he said something in passing he wished he had), or write him a letter as well. State how wonderful he is and make a point to give examples.
Sentimental gestures are the best. The most memorable, sweetest Valentine’s gift I ever received was a card and inside, a note attached. The note said, ” I didn’t want to give you just a dozen roses, so I got you a whole garden.” This came with a one year membership to a gorgeous botanical garden. I was shocked! This place was one of my favorites, and one he didn’t enjoy. He knew what I loved and also knew I wouldn’t go alone, he would be escorting me. This was over a decade ago and it still makes me smile to this day.
You may question why I didn’t add the latest fashions and direct you to purchases to make it big for this gift-giving day. Style isn’t just about fashion and how you wear it. Style is all-encompassing. Especially during Valentine’s Day, you need to show style when dealing with your loved ones. Kindness, gratitude, and love are the height of chic style.
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone~
