The actors attending the 2011 Screen Actors Guild award ceremony, turned it out! There was hardly a misstep and I was particularly happy with Ms. Helena Bonham Carter, wearing a white and black lace dress by Marc Jacobs. Her unusual, eccentric, sometimes wacky style decisions, were squelched by a hint of good taste.
Hillary Swank – In blush Versace. Perfection.
Natalie Portman – White Azzaro with a touch of baby bump. Lovely.
Julianna Margulies – Red YSL. Very chic.
Mila Kunis – Red Alexander McQueen. Delightful.
Sofia Vergara – Cobalt blue Roberto Cavalli. Va Va Va Voom. Watch out though, the deep V and huge slit bordered on trashy.
Jayma Mays – Peach Jenny Packman. A vision.
Heather Morris – Blush Romona Keveza. Gorgeous.
Amy Adams – White Herve Leroux. Class.
Annette Bening – Soft gold Tony Ward Couture. Movie Star.
High Honorable Mention
Amber Riley – Black Anne Barge. Dressed like a star.
Hailee Steinfeld – Striped Prada. Age appropriate for a 14 yr old. Adorable.
Julie Bowen – Black Catherine Malandrino jumpsuit. Stepping outside the box. Love the look.
Tina Fey – Red Oscar de la Renta. Thank you for not wearing black. Hot!
Sarah Hyland – Orange Max Mara. Fresh.
Giuliana Rancic – White Ema Savahl. Goddess gown.

There were a few fashion trends emerging on the Red Carpet at the Golden Globes. Emerald green, looks good on everyone…but who wore it best? The 80’s, Dynasty catfight gowns were also in attendance. Nude/peach to soft metallics rose again. Sparkles and the old standby, black, were in full force…. but wow, the dresses were amazing!
Faves for Best Dressed:
Olivia Wilde in chocolate sparkle Marchesa. Scene stealer.
Elizabeth Moss in emerald green Donna Karan. Gorgeous.
Mila Kunis in emerald green Vera Wang. Stunning.
Piper Parabo in black Oscar de la Renta. Elegant perfection.
Eva Longoria in black Zac Posen. Simple, sultry.
Anne Hathaway in a pink bronze Armani Prive. Glamorous starlet.
Hailee Steinfeld in ivory Prabal Gurung. Exquisite.
Emma Stone in peach Calvin Klein. At first, I didn’t now who this siren was with her new blonde locks. I had mistaken her for Jamie Pressley upon first glance. Sleek and sensuous.
For the most part, everyone looked pretty together. Just remember, there is a fine line between eccentric and all out wacky. Don’t let your dress wear you….or look like a costume rather then a superb piece of couture.
Kudos to the stars and the designers. It was a beautiful sight on a beautiful night.

I must say, I was far from overwhelmed by the celebrity choices at the People’s Choice. Granted, it is a lessor event than, of course, the Oscar’s but still an event to dress for. I really had a hard time finding a stunner. Either the color was drab, the style was awful, or the hair and make up was ghastly. The trend of the short dress was everywhere. With very short hemlines, I abhor a low-cut top on a super short dress. Finding the right proportion, fit, color, hairstyle and perfect make up is key to a successful look. Here is the short list of better dressed because I just couldn’t find the best.
Kaley Cuoco – White belted dress. Hair was a bit off, but dress was spot on.
Taylor Swift – Love the dress. Hate the hair and red lip…once again.
Nancy O’Dell – Red hot mama.
Lisa Edelstein – Metallic strapless with appropriate knee-length for her age.
Mila Kunis – Loved the style and fit her perfectly. The army green color, I hated.
Queen Latifah – Turquoise gown. Beautiful.
Johnny Depp – Usually looks a hot mess, but redeemed himself in his tie-less 3 piece suit ensemble and pocket watch chain to accessorize.
Zac Effron – Fresh take on a 3 piece suit. Nice.
Adam Sandler – Best accessory = Black eye
