Uhh, can you even fathom this 1960’s Oscar de le Renta creation?!!! So detailed, so beautiful, so extraordinary, so wearable now! I would wear this to a gala or with a tee and jeans to the Farmer’s Market. No kidding, I would. Does anyone see a bit of this piece of fashion history in the collections of today? Olivier Rousteing for Balmain maybe? I’m crazy for Olivier, so only seems right that this coat would send me into a couture meltdown.
The quintessential suit by Chanel. When I think of Chanel, this suit style is what appears in my mind first. This set the standard, left a lasting impression, and has been the epitome of the word, ‘classic’.
This vintage Balenciaga suit from 1951, is gorgeous. The detail work with billowy balloon sleeves (circular flounce), nipped in waist, and peplum had to be an eye-catching look in the 50’s. I love the drama! This is definitely a suit I would rock today.
November is Vintage Month on The STYLE Penthouse, featuring mega designers creating extraordinary things. It’s time for some Fashion History, and see what glorious looks we can find from the past….and what we would love to wear today!

Did you watch the new TV series, “Pan Am” on ABC? I was hooked after the first show. The style and glam of the era kept me entranced. I wish everyone took the time to dress that way today. I especially adore this Pan Am Orion bag in Pan Am blue, and I am putting this little gem on my birthday wish list. A throwback to the sophisticated stewardesses of the 60’s….and a fun retro bag for weekends! Totally “PAN AM” smitten!
It is available at http://panam.com/shop Cute merchandise, take a look.
