I must admit I was a bit underwhelmed with the red carpet looks this year. Of course, I do have my faves and also the “fire your stylist” picks.
BEST Picks: Their look encompassed perfection from gown, to hair, and accessories.
Kim Kardasian – Grecian goddess in Marchesa. It was a nice change and she looked gorgeous, head to toe.
Nina Dobrev – Wearing Zuhair Murad. Breathtaking in a nude one-shoulder gown.
Julie Benz – Pamela Rolland. White one-shoulder with a hip placed cutout accent. Extreme chic.
Claire Danes – A nude Swarovski crystal encrusted Armani Prive gown. Flawless.
Lea Michele – Once again, this girl gets it right, in a navy Oscar De La Renta. Stunning.
Sofia Veraga – With her Jessica Rabbit curves, it can be difficult to dress her without crossing the line to vulgar. She shined in Carolina Herrera, soft golden-yellow strapless.
Elisabeth Moss – Wearing Donna Karan, her nude gown actually worked quite well with her pale skin tone. Simply elegant.
Cheryl Hines – In a dove grey Zac Posen. Lovely.
Tina Fey – I usually end up feeling sorry for her dress choice, but not tonight! Silver silk with a black beaded overlay by Oscar De La Renta. Fantastic.
Jayma Mays – Styled in top to bottom perfection, wearin Burberry Prorsum. Glamorous.
I am tired of black, it is a bore. The biggest reason, it does not show well on TV. None of the beautiful detail work shows and ends up looking like a black blob. Unless your physique calls for only black, please find color.
I do have to mention two faves in black (as seen in photos), Kelly Osbourne in Tony Ward…detail work was amazing and she is so svelte! Great look, Kelly. And, Eva Longoria wearing a pretty Robert Rodriguez.
My kudos goes out to these women who stepped it up and looked great: Jane Lynch in Ali Rahimi and Wanda Sykes in a silver beaded one-shoulder.
It just didn’t work:
Christina Hendricks – Zac Posen. Everything was wrong. The color, the style, the fit. Not flattering.
Anna Paquin – Alexander McQueen. I really loved the top, but the bottom baffled me.
Heidi Klum – Marchesa. The dress was beautiful, it just needed to be longer. The micro mini length didn’t jive with the rest of the dress.
Lauren Graham – Yigal Azrouel. Shapeless mishap. Come see me next time.
January Jones – Versace Atelier. The color was magnificent. The style looked more like prom than Red Carpet.
Fireable offense: Prada nadda! Whoever styled Rita Wilson should be shot. Prada never looked so awful and neither did Rita. This made me sad…then mad. Enhance your client!
I saw a lot of celebs with their hair a mess that actually took away from their dress. Watch out ladies, sometimes a natural, young, beachy look …makes you look old and harsh. The gown you choose indicates the hairstyle you should wear. Look at the total picture.
Until the next Red Carpet event….. stay chic.
